Antique Jewelry, Estate Jewelry. Circa 1890s, Sterling, French. This 56-inch-long sterling silver necklace is a charming example of handmade nineteenth-century French jewelry. The detailed filigree elements have a town and country look that is deliciously unique and stylishly au courant. Highly versatile, it can be worn long, wrapped or layered with pearls and/or other chains. Very good condition, with minor wear commensurate with age. The copper and gold plating on the small sterling balls on the central elements are worn, giving them subtly ragged organic look. We find this patination very charming. Good condition.
