TerminologyQ: Is this all Estate or Antique jewelry? A: All our jewelry is Estate or Antique jewelry. Q: What does Estate Jewelry mean? A: Estate Jewelry is any piece of jewelry which has been previously owned. Q: What is Antique Jewelry? A: Antique Jewelry is jewelry which is 100 years old or more. Q: What is Period Jewelry? A: Period Jewelry is any piece of jewelry made in and of the style of a particular Period, i.e. Victorian Period (1837 to 1901), or Art Deco Period, generally accepted to be from 1923 to 1939. To be a "Period" piece, jewelry must be in the "style of the Period" and made during the accepted span of years associated with that Period. Q: What is Signed jewelry? A: Signed Jewelry is jewelry that has a hallmark from a noted jewelry firm such as Tiffany, Harry Winston, Cartier, etc. Original documents, receipts, or boxes will add to the value. Q: Do you sell new or reproduction pieces? A: No. All the jewelry we sell is Estate or Antique. Buying & SellingQ: How often do you acquire more Antique and Estate Jewelry? A: We have antique jewelry, estate jewelry, and signed jewelry coming in almost every week. Q: Where do you get your Antique Jewelry and Estate Jewelry? A: We buy our Antique Jewelry from a variety of different sources. A great deal of our buying is done in Europe. We make purchases from other dealers and the public. We also purchase at auction and, occasionally, major estate sales. Q: Do you buy Antique Jewelry? A: Yes, we buy Antique Jewelry, Estate Jewelry and Signed Jewelry. Please call or email. Q: What else do you buy? A: We buy all gold, silver, and gemstones. Besides jewelry, we are interested in sterling items such as flatware or hollowware. We also buy object d'art, boxes, and 'smalls' of all kinds. Jewelry can be old or new i.e. Antique Jewelry or Estate Jewelry, but we are the most interested in finer, more important items and Signed Jewelry. Q: If you make me an offer for my Antique Jewelry or Estate Jewelry, must I accept it right away, or at all? A: No! We want you to feel comfortable. Please take your time and make a decision that is right for you. Appraisals & RepairsQ: Can I get an appraisal? A: We would be glad to provide a free appraisal for any piece that you purchase from us. Q: Will you appraise my Antique jewelry collection? A: We are sorry but we only appraise the pieces we sell. However, we would be glad to discuss your pieces with you and share any information we have free of charge. Q: Would you repair or restore my Antique jewelry? A: No. While we are experts in the repair and restoration of Period and Antique Jewelry, we feel that a proper repair shop should devote all of its attention and energy to just that business only. SizingQ: Do you size rings and how long will it take? A: We would be glad to size any ring purchased from us. It will take about a week. Q: How much will my ring sizing cost? A: For gold rings, as little as $75, or for wider rings, as much as $175. Platinum will be somewhat more. Q: How long does a sizing or modification take? A: Usually a week to ten days. Technical QuestionsQ: What does it mean when we say that gold or platinum is "tested" as... A: When an item has no assay mark (i.e. 14k, 18k, 750, or platinum, etc.), we use a rub stone and acid test materials to determine what the metal is. Q: How is the gold tested? A: The gold tested using a standard rub stone and acid test kit. Every jeweler has one. They are highly reliable. Q: How do you vett your colored gemstones? A: All colored stones have been checked by an expert, gemologist, or both. Q: How do you know the diamonds are real? A: All the diamonds have been tested and are guaranteed. Q: Are you sure of the color and clarity of the diamonds? A: All our diamonds are examined by more than one expert. Color and clarity is knowledgeably approximated when the stones are still mounted. Q: How do you know the diamond or stone weight is correct? A: They are weighed when possible. If the stones are mounted, they are measured and the weight determined according to standard formulas. A: Yes, we ship internationally. We generally ship internationally via FedEx Priority, Global Express Mail, or UPS. Please remember that you will be responsible for any customs fees or duties imposed by your government. PrivacyQ: Do you share my personal information with other companies? A: NO! We will not share your name, email, phone, or address with any entity. Payments & ReturnsQ: Do you have layaway? A: Yes. Our layaway plan is 1⁄3 down and payment of 1⁄3 in 30 days with a final payment in 60 days. If you need additional time for a large purchase, please let us know. We will try to accommodate you. Q: What if I am not happy with my purchase? What is your return policy? A: Any piece purchased on the site can be returned for any reason for a period of five days (from the date of delivery). We guarantee that your purchase will be as described on the site. However, any piece can be returned for any reason for a period of five days (from date of delivery). Returns after the grace period of five days (from date of delivery) will be solely at our discretion and will be assessed a 15% restocking fee. If you have modified a piece or had us modify or customize an item it is not returnable. Rings that are sized are the exception to this rule. |
