Circa 1910-17, 14k, Attributed to Faberge, Russia. Decorated with the Imperial double eagle on a blue enamel field, signet rings like this one have an interesting history. Made by Faberge for the Czar and Imperial family, they were used as favors at receptions or as gifts to valued retainers. This is a fine example set with diamonds, which is unusual. From the catwalk to the sidewalk, this ring is vintage glamour at its Faberge best. The hand-engraved details on the eagles are crisp and the enamel work in excellent condition.

Noted: We have had an earlier Faberge example, so are familiar with them; We have also had a post-imperial Russian tourist piece featuring the Imperial Crest like this one, so I am familiar with those as well. The look of the originals and later rings are markedly different, as Faberge work masters and goldsmiths continued to work for the Communists producing lower quality pieces that could be sold to visitors for hard currency.
